Default Ranger Trenchcoat

I saw one, perhaps even two male rangers in the Barradin Estate during the March Beta Weekend wearing these long, trechcoat type things. Capes? Parkas? They were long-type shroud/capey looking things.

Someone asked this ranger-type person where he got it, and he said that he acquired it from a Collector somewhere. I know a collector up by Foible's Fair offered me Monk's Sandals, so the story has some credibility to it.

So, my question comes in two parts. Is there, indeed, some mysterious ranger Collector out there somewhere giving away trenchcoats (perhaps someone in Regent Valley)? If not, is this coat part of some craftable armor set somewhere?

They're probably pulling your leg, the trenches you saw would have most likely have been their Guild capes.

"Trenchcoats" are a legitimate style of Ranger's armor now, but it is only available to Males. The female version looks like a short vest.

Oh my, so all this time I could have annoyed my Guild mates with Matrix jokes if only I had played male for my Ranger chars.

Anyone got a screenshot of these trenchcoats? I'd love to see them!

Nice, I like armour that looks seriously different.
Just hope it doesn't become "too" popular...like all the cool looking armour inevitably does

Well, what they need is a lot of cool looking armor. People won't all wear the same cool looking armor if they've got choices...

There are two ranger armours that have these long coat-like things. Druid's Armour and Hunter's Armour's chest pieces both have it. But it's hard to identify them without looking at the picture because they are both called "rawhide vest". A collector next to the gate to Reagant Vally (it's in the first EA next to Ascalon City past that little village) will give you the Hunter's chest if you give her 5 grawl necklaces - or you can just craft it once you get past the Academy.

EDIT: Here is a picture of the Druid's Armour. The one's above were the Hunter's armour.

Just a quick note:
The ranger coats look awful with a guild cape. They look fine on their own, but they're far longer than the cape. Perhaps some fashionistas can give me better word to use than "clash" but for now, they just do not work together. Definite fashion faux paus.

First off: Nice screenshots Dreamsmith. Just got finished looking through them all, and I'm liking the commentary. But were there some innuendos thrown in there as well?

Secondly, concerning "cool looking armor:" A trenchcoat would be nice, but getting the Tattooes is higher on my list of cool-looking things to do with your character. I've only seen little blurbs about it though, so I'm going to have to find out for myself in 9 days when the beta starts up. I'll keep a lookout for the trenchcoats too, and see if they "clash" as bad as Scaphism says they do.

I don't think they look too bad. At least not if you have fairly neutral colors. It would be really cool if when you got a guild cape, you're cloak was imbroidered with the cape insignia on the back.

I have a coat as well spent most of March's BWE with one Still don't have a cape so never knew that clashed. Can you dye it black Matrix style??

I never attempted to dye my druid's armour, but I got a hold of some dye while I still had by hunter's armour and it didn't dye the whole cloak. It just dyed the trim on the edges. I hardly noticed a change. Infact I wouldn't have if I wasn't paying such close attention to look for it.

Yeah there is always the problem with the "cool" armour. But GuildWars is more random so it may not be as much of a problem.
